Lunch & Learn Behaviour Talks – Cats

For Veterinary Centres, Rescue Centres & Groomers

I offer in-person Lunch & Learn behaviour talks focused on cats, designed to help animal care professionals better understand feline behaviour, reduce stress in clinical settings, and feel more confident supporting both cats and their owners.

These sessions are ideal for vets, nurses, reception teams, animal care assistants, and groomers who want to improve feline welfare while reducing handling risk and improving client communication.

Price: £70 per hour
Format: In-person at your workplace (if within 10 miles of AL1 3SB or online - or I can potentially recommend other suitable colleagues in your area)

What You’ll Learn

Understanding Feline Body Language

Cats communicate stress subtly. Learn to spot the early signs of fear, discomfort, or agitation before they escalate. These “whispers” help you intervene early and prevent bites, scratches, or behavioural issues.

Fear, Frustration & Aggression in Cats

  • Recognise fear-based and frustration-driven behaviours

  • Understand why cats may escalate quickly in clinical environments

  • Adjust handling techniques to reduce stress and risk

Includes video examples and take-home handouts for ongoing reference.

Low-Stress Handling for Cats

Practical guidance on:

  • Handling anxious or reactive cats

  • Reducing stress during examinations and procedures

  • Supporting cats using cat-friendly, minimally intrusive techniques

Supporting Clients Beyond the Consultation

Staff will gain confidence guiding clients on:

Kitten Care & Early Behaviour

  • Socialisation, handling, and setting kittens up for success and helping breeders or rescue colleagues

  • Preventing common behaviour problems

Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) & Stress

  • Understanding the link between stress, environment, and cystitis

  • Explaining stress-reduction strategies and home interventions

Introducing Cats

  • Best practices for introducing kittens or new cats to resident cats and dogs

  • Avoiding common mistakes that lead to long-term conflict

Making Your Clinic Cat-Friendly

Learn how to adapt your clinic environment to reduce feline stress:

  • Cat-only waiting areas or quiet zones

  • Providing vertical spaces, hiding spots, and pheromone diffusers

  • Minimising noise, smells, and cross-species stressors

  • Handling cats in a calm, slow, and predictable way

Creating a cat-friendly clinic helps cats feel safer, reduces fear-based behaviour, and improves staff safety and client satisfaction.
