For cats who are spraying urinating or defecating outside of their litter tray

When a cat is spraying you may feel at a real loss of what to do. It can feel overwhelming, upsetting and frustrating when you’ve scoured the internet for advice, spoke to friends and read books, but they are still marking your furniture and walls. Perhaps your cat is not using their litter box and is peeing on the sofa or the walls or you are finding stains behind the sofa.

I’m here to support you. I provide a structured approach to addressing the challenge, taking into account your cat, you, your cat’s and your environment. There is

no cookie cutting technique - your cat is an individual. This is why I ask to fill in a questionnaire beforehand so I get an understanding of what you are facing.

What’s included in the consultation?

I will discuss with you your situation in detail and I do pre - consult research on your cats' clinical history and the

questionnaire before we meet I can then provide first aid advice (advice to manage the problem until we meet).

The consult is 1.5 hours long - it can be held online on Teams or if you are within a 15 mile radius of AL1.

There are then two x 1 hour follow up sessions to support you and your cat and answer any questions.

I create a behavioural timeline that looks at when your cats behaviour may have started and a trigger.

I look at the motivations, emotions and triggers of the behaviour and help explain these to you.

I provide an action plan with your input in the form of a report that fits into yours and your cats life.

I give advice on different scenario’s such as vet trips and holidays and anyone who may care for your cat.

I provide a report to your vet and liaise with them if needed - keeping you in the loop with this.

I can help you fill out any insurance forms that you may want to complete after the consultation.

I provide an hour’s worth of support on phone/email/ whatsapp (let me know what’s best for you!)

How to get started

  • If you like, contact me for an initial call, to make sure we are a good fit working together (if not i can always recommend other professionals so you are getting the support you need)

  • Then contact your vet and explain you would like to work with a behaviourist and the problems you’re facing - some vets will want to see your cat to rule out anything medical that could be contributing to the behaviour.

  • If they are happy to refer , I will need this form and your cat(s) clinical history.

  • We will then set up a date to meet and I’ll send over the booking form which has a helpful questionnaire included.

  • I will then send over some initial management advice to support you prior to the consultation.
