Helping your cat cope this Christmas

Helping your cat cope this Christmas

Cats have incredible senses of smell. We can only imagine how intense things smell at Christmas for them. Here are some things to consider to help them.

·      Ask visitors to leave shoes in a box to help reduce the smell that shoes can bring in (remember shoes are on the ground and can bring in lots of scents).

·      Make sure candles, firstly, are out of reach and safe (there are some gorgeous fake candles out there). Also make sure they are away from trays and food and popular resting spots.

·      Ensure your avoiding dusting areas such as the corner of tables where your cats bunt and deposit their scent. Removing this can make them feel more insecure.

·      Again, if you are using diffusers place them in a location your cat doesn’t go in much.

·      Plug in air fresheners can be overwhelming when placed near litter trays.

·      Remember the smell of Turkey, Ham and Chicken can be very tempting and they may jump up on the side burning their mouth and getting their paws stuck in to your meat.
